If you visit Lech in summer, you should definitely walk the first stage of the Lech Trail. The hike starts at the Formarinsee lake in the Zugertal valley. The lake is nestled in an imposing mountain landscape, there is a wonderful view of the striking peak of the Rote Wand, the second highest mountain in the Lechquellen Mountains at 2,704 m. From there, the Lechweg leads past one of the largest ibex colonies and one of the last wild river landscapes in Europe. A beautiful hike, along the Lech, where the healing effect of the mountains and nature can be clearly felt.

THE LECHWEG
Walking along the river – look, marvel, meditate! The Lechweg (Lech path) is a long-distance walk for those who need variety. Because at the wild Lech no one gets bored. An easy way to walk through the Alps and one of the last wild river landscapes of Europe – a path of self-discovery – a very personal encounter!
The Lechweg takes around 125 kilometers from Formarinsee via Warth into the Lechtal-Reutte nature park region to the Lechfall in Füssen in the Allgäu. It connects three regions and two countries with their respective traditions and stories.
The first 4 stages can be accomplished easily, since the Lechtal bus runs to Lech every hour, meaning that it is no problem to be back in the evening at your “home on the mountain”.

THE GREEN RING
The “Grüne Ring” is a three-day stage hike over mountain ridges, through valleys, and past mountain lakes and rivers with waterfalls. Discover the secrets of skiing in the winter!
Stage 1 – Lech – Rüfikopf – Zürs
Stage 2 – Zürs – Zug
Stage 3 – Zug – Oberlech Lech
Enjoy nature and be charmed by extraordinary installations as well as by the stories that have been created especially for this hiking trail. Fabulous creatures and legends as well as unusual geographic features invite to a modern and humorous performance. A literary hiking map leads through hitherto unknown, stimulating and entertaining areas that are difficult to see with the naked eye. The well-placed resting benches and stagings help a little to sharpen the view for the fleeting inter-world. From the three peaks to be climed, the view captures the wide range of the fabulous scenery for an entry in the mountain summit guest book. This unique hiking trail is an art and literature project that is continuously expanded and extended over the next few years.
